Multicultural and multidisciplinary artist, specialized in fashion design, textile design and art education/ workshops. Born in Colombia and raised in the tropical island Aruba. In the summer of 2012 I moved to Holland to pursue a future in the fashion industry. In July 2017 I obtained my Bachelor degree as a fashion designer at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy Amsterdam with my graduation collection titled “Meet me at the end”.

With my collection "Meet me at the end" I was selected to participate at Modebelofte 2017, 21 - 29 Oct'17. Modebelofte is an international presentation of fiercely innovative new fashion tallents during the Dutch Design Week DDW.

As a designer I am very dedicated, have a ‘hands on’ working attitude and I have a great sense for developing beautiful materials with a good eye for detail & color. The play between materials, sustainability, heritage and craftsmanship are important elements in my work. By experimenting with textures, techniques, materials, color, constructions and the relation they have with each other, I create an interesting balance in my designs with contemporary interpretations.

I also create creative workshops for children of different ages. Please check out the art education tab, or contact me for more information

In October 2021 I established INNERWAVE creative studio by Nathaly Vlaun. Innerwave stands for the creative energy that flows through all of us. It is a creative practice where I aim to reconnect with myself as a multidimensional being and artist. It is the platform I have chosen to explore my creative energy, to dive into my ancestry and all my fascinations with the body and with the almost forgotten tribal knowledge.

I see our bodies as our first canvas. We use- and dress this body in order to communicate with others. We use our bodies to express who we think we are, what we are feeling, how we think people see us and also to protect ourselves.

A long time ago, when we still lived in small tribes as some people still do to this age, people (our ancestors) used to use their body as a canvas. They used to paint on themselves. This was their fashion. This was their way to show to the world; where they came from, who they were, what position they occupied. Nowaday we mostly use clothing to do this. Some body modifications are off course still being used, like piercings and tattoos. But now we mostly only use clothes. And we don’t even play around with them. We are fixated with developing our own style, because that would show the world who we really are.

The reality is that we are ever changing beings, which means that we should play with and explore all our potentials. This is what I aim to do, in the most creative way possible.

At INNERWAVE I aim to express my full potential as a human being, through the creative energy that flows through me. I aim to experience and share with others all the healing abilities of being creative, of making things with our own hands and to empower ourselves through art/ creativity.
